Brand New Experience Awaits!

Welcome to my travel blog!

In this little diary I will share the very first impressions from visiting the places of worship of the city of Groningen, as well as, reflecting on various explanations of tourism in these places from the perspective of tourist studies.

Just some short info about me (although I assume that most of you have read the 'About Me' section). Currently, I am an undergraduate student in the University of Groningen studying Economics. I was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan where I spent my entire childhood until leaving the high school at the age of 18. Despite staying in the Netherlands for almost 2 years , I have never got the chance to learn about the Dutch culture. Therefore, the desire to know the local culture can be considered as one the reasons of my travels.

In November 2015 I was given the opportunity to create the blog as a part of my tourism course, so I decided that it would be a great idea to visit houses of worship of Groningen and record my experiences. The reason I chose religious tourism as my main subject stems from my personal fascination with different cultures and, most importantly, the first impression the city gave me when I arrived. Having never been abroad before (let alone travelling to Europe), I was amazed by the city's abundance of temples and other religious sights from different ages (something that you would seldom see in Kazakhstan).

All in all, I welcome you to my blog and I hope you will find it interesting! Feel free to comment, share and follow.
